Leafy turnips (Brassica rapa var. silvestris) are suitable as fast growing cover crops after maize or as a forage crop. Leafy turnips come into production early, due to their high early vigour. They can either be used in spring or autumn. As a forage crop, leafy turnips can be grazed 4 to 6 weeks after sowing. As a cover crop our leafy turnip varieties Avalon and Skyfall are interesting alternatives due to their winter hardiness, notably when sown late.
