Rocket lettuce (Eruca sativa) is a medium to late-flowering cover crop with an average speed of development. Through breeding, we have succeeded in breeding nematode resistance in rocket lettuce. Our varieties Tiara and Trio are suitable for use as a controller of beet cyst nematodes Heterodera schachtii and H. betae. Tiara and Trio are also resistant towards root knot nematodes M. chitwoodi, M. fallax, M. javanica and M. incognita. Rocket lettuce is the ideal mixing partner for, for example, oil seed radish in a cover crop cultivation that is aimed at nematode control. In addition to this broad resistance, rocket lettuce is also suitable as a biofumigation crop due to its high glucosinolate content.
